Actually, it should be early October, 6 BC. King Harrod, who was alive during Jesus' birth, died in 4 BC. The shepherds would have there flocks on the hills during the cool nights of spring or autumn, not rainy early winter. Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem to pay their taxes, which the Roman empire did during the harvest, in the fall.
The wise men did not show up until the family had rented a house in Bethlaham, definitely not the same knight.
