Cassie was a whiz kid in her childhood, graduating high school at the age of 16, and already had her Master's Degree in Physics at age 21. Currently employed as a nanotech engineer at TerCon Technologies, a research & development facility in the Dallas area, Cassie was experimenting with fabricating elements when she discovered that one of the elements she created could travel through time. She then harnessed the strange power of this element to make her own time machine. Cassie is an outgoing, adventurous type, a bit uninhibited, and always willing to help out someone in need.
Originally a casual acquaintance in a virtual-world chatroom, Philip is now Cassie's husband. He works as a field engineer for a natural gas drilling company. In his spare time, Philip takes an interest in cosplaying, which comes in handy when joining his wife (and sometimes their son) on anachronistic adventures.
Bethany is Cassie's best friend, going back to high school times. She was mostly responsible for getting 16-year-old Cassie adjusted to the college life. She now lives in California and possesses her own time machine. Bethany is friendly and outgoing, though she does have her introverted moments.
One of Cassie's closest friends, Matt Gahan is an expert in electronics. He got involved with Cassie's time traveling right from the start when, while working at the travel agency next door, Cassie asked him to help her assemble the time machine using a brass pendant and a small flip phone. He's also a bit of a prankster who would play a practical joke on the President if he thought he could get away with it.
Keith Scott is a Special Agent for the FBI, specializing in espionage and paranormal investigations, and is also part of the Consortium, an extragovernmental (and extratemporal) agency that keeps tabs on Cassie and her friends, making sure their time traveling doesn't get out of hand. As a dwarf, Keith's diminutive size enables him to conceal himself in places other agents wouldn't be able to fit in.
Feisty Maggie hails from early-14th-century Ireland, and would have been dead from the Black Plague if Cassie hadn't befriended her while visiting medieval Dublin. After some lifesaving medicine to cure the plague, Maggie decided to permanently accompany Cassie to modern times. She now works in the Public Relations department of TerCon and is active in many charitable organizations. Maggie met Rodney at TerCon in 2006, and they married in 2008.
Rodney is Director of Marketing at TerCon. He and Cassie get along well... unless college sports are involved. Then it's a clash of alma maters, his being the Texas Longhorns and hers being the Oklahoma Sooners. Rodney is currently married to co-worker Maggie.
She's a French woman living in America. She's also a tomboy, a military enthusiast and a master at swordfighting. Sounds a lot like Joan of Arc, right? Well, that's because she IS Joan of Arc. Rescued from her fiery fate by Cassie and Matt, Joan now lives in the present time and is close friends with fellow time-transplant Maggie.
Ivy (formerly of the Rule Of Three webcomic) moved to the Metroplex in 2015, where she currently teaches history at Texas Woman's University. She's a pagan bisexual, which puts her completely at odds with her devout-Catholic mother, but she gets along fine with the rest of her family. One of Ivy's prized possessions is her ceramic Buddha bust, which seems to have a mind of its own.
Also known as MIRA-7 Serial Number X202-S197-OAJ, Nicki is a Multifunctional Interactive Robotic Assistant, first manufactured in 2023 and purchased by Cassie in 2027. Nicki has 500 exabytes (half a trillion gigabytes) of memory, a fully customizable body, built-in wireless internet capabilities, and her own time machine that she can use to obtain information about the future for Cassie.
Born in June of 2010, but laid as an egg 65 million years ago, Mascus is a genuine dinosaur - a prenoceratops to be exact. Cassie's desire for a prehistoric pet led her to seek one out in the age of dinosaurs. Mascus, named after J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, was then brought back into the present day and sent with Agent Scott to be studied and nurtured for a few months before being returned to Cassie. Brain enhancement therapy at the FBI's Covert Biological Research department resulted in Mascus possessing some character traits of a typical house cat.
